Year 1 were extremely lucky to find a fire engine parked in the school car park. No there wasn’t an emergency, we were extremely grateful to have a planned visit from the Arundel Fire Service. They talked to the children about fire safety and then allowed the children to explore the fire engine, it was very exciting! Thank you to the Arundel Fire service for giving up their time to be with us.

Hudson recently visited our partner school in Madagascar. He talked about his trip in an assembly to the whole school. The children were fascinated by Hudon's presentation and were able to make comparisons with Lake Mantasoa School and St. Philip's.

Saturday was the launch day at Littlehampton Museum for the Locality Art Exhibition based on the theme of 'Water'. The exhibition is running throughout the summer. Thanks to Miss Fessey for leading the Art Day and liaising with the project leaders.

What a fab end to the year! At the final LASP athletics event: Yr 4 girls 2nd 🥈 Yr 4 boys 1st 🥇 Yr 5 girls 2nd 🥈 Yr 5 boys 3rd 🥉 The Yr 5s were against Yr 6s as ours were at the Yr 6 Peter Pan production! 2nd 🥈 overall! A final thanks to both Mr Caws and Mrs Footman for all their hard work this year. This leaves us placed in 2nd in the LASP league table in our Locality for the year. I know Mrs Footman is keen to get 1st next year!

A huge well done to all our dancers from St Philips who performed beautifully yesterday at Dance House at the Worthing Pavilion! It was a fantastic experience for them and we had such a great day! Seeing the excitement on their faces as we arrived in the huge theatre was just wonderful! Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 runners who were part of the 'Southern' school team at the cross country finals in Crawley yesterday. In each event there were 180 runners. The 'Southern' team gained gold overall with some excellent individual performances. A wonderful experience for all. Many thanks to Mrs Footman for training and accompanying them

All the children enjoyed Science Week and it ended with a wonderful finale, as we had Mrs Byrne visit us (Science Lead at Oscar Romero). She explained and demonstrated many exciting experiments, which the children and staff enjoyed.

We are unbelievably proud of the Year 4 Girl's Football Team. They made it through to the Southern Area Finals. They won 5 games, drew 1 and only lost 1 match. They scored 10 goals in total. They were awarded 3rd place. Well done to all the girls and Mr Caws who continually supports the teams.

The Year 6 girls team came 2nd 🥈 Individual runners: Year 6: Ines 4th Hope 6th Harry 8th Year 5: Chloe 3rd (medal) 🥉 Edward 18th The top 20 go through to the South of England stage so all who placed will take part! Well done to Mrs Footman and all of her runners who represented the school today ⭐️

Year 3 had the pleasure of attending this year's Children's Concert at the Chichester Festival Theatre. They had a wonderful time. Southern Pro Musica returned with a perfect introduction to live music for schools, played by a full professional orchestra. This hour-long concert featured musical classics such as Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Offenbach’s Can-Can and much more, this included audience participation and was compered by the brilliant musical magician Neil Henry and conducted by Jonathan Willcocks.

Year 6 got the chance to meet the V2 Radio crew and play the 'Beat It' quiz. They had to play a music game and we were delighted to be told, that we are now in 2nd place! Each child got to take home a 'goody-bag' as well.

As part of our continued effort to be a Fairtrade School, we were delighted to be visited by Vidya Shilp Academy, Bangalore, India. VSA was the first fair trade school in all of India and is committed to spreading awareness about sustainability and upholding the principles of fair trade as part of its curriculum. Their older students were a delight and had planned so many wonderful activities for each.
