Relationship and Sex Education Consultation
From September 2020 all primary schools have a statutory duty to teach Relationships & Sex Education (RSE). Department of Education guidance is available on the DFE website.
Working alongside our Diocese and Deanery schools, we have produced a RSE Policy to meet these requirements that is also in line with the teaching of the Catholic Church and which will be adopted at St Philip’s Catholic Primary School.
The guidance recommends that schools should ensure that, when they consult with parents, they provide examples of the resources that they plan to use as this can be reassuring for parents and enables them to continue the conversations started in class at home. The curriculum is shared in the Appendix of the new policy, it shows the content different age groups will be learning and the ‘Journey in Love’ resources can be found on the Sex and Relationship Education page on the school’s website.
This policy has been open to parents for a consultation period and parent’s responses gathered and considered. This policy has now been adopted and is available to view here:
