The Jewish Museum London visits Year 5
Year 5 were lucky to have a special lesson with Theo from The Jewish Museum London. This was part of our Judaism in our RE topic 'Dialogue and Encounter' where we learn about other world faiths. We learnt lots of new vocabulary. For example, a Tallit is a special prayer shawl. Mrs Varndall also learnt something new that these shawls represent a person's identity. For example we saw a man from Ghana and his Tallit represented this through the pattern and design. We also learnt about the Tzitzit which are the strings in the four corners of the Tallit - they contain 613 knots. It was a great session and really added to our knowledge and experiences of the Jewish faith.

South African Cricket Team Visits Arundel
On Monday 2nd June, twenty children from St. Philip's Primary School, had a cricketing experience they will never forget! For an hour the outfield of the Arundel Castle cricket ground was home to four small games involving the children and the South African cricket team who are over here preparing for the ICC Test final v Australia starting at Lords next week. In a wonderfully relaxed and fun filled atmosphere, the children batted and bowled alongside some of the greats of the game like Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj. Mr. Caws from St. Philip?s said, ?The children blossomed in confidence as the South African players encouraged and celebrated their cricket skills.? He added, ?A big thank you must go to Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation who organized the event as well as the South African team.? The children were given t shirts which were then signed by all the players and provided with lunch from the Cricket Club canteen.

Year 1 were extremely lucky to find a fire engine parked in the school car park. No there wasnt an emergency, we were extremely grateful to have a planned visit from the Arundel Fire Service. They talked to the children about fire safety and then allowed the children to explore the fire engine, it was very exciting! Thank you to the Arundel Fire service for giving up their time to be with us.
